Voices of Queensbridge

Queensbridge Houses is America’s oldest and largest public housing community. Home to nearly 7000 official residents, this 3100 apartment Queens neighborhood sits between the east river and a rapidly developing Long Isltand city. This film is the culmination of a year-long partnership between LaGuardia Community College’s Gardiner-Shenker Student Scholars and senior residents of the Queensbridge Houses and Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement. The students did oral history interviews with long-time residents and these recordings and transcripts will be added to the NYCHA collection at the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
